How can I book my organic spray tan?
You can contact Lauren for an appointment right here on the contact page. You can also email Lauren at laurengartistry.com. The direct link to email Lauren is at the bottom of the site.
When should I get it done before my event?
It is recommended to get your spray tan done 1-2 days before your event.
How long does it last?
With proper care, your organic spray tan should last 5-10 days.
How do I prepare for my tan?
When booking your appointment, Lauren will send you a Pre-Tan Prep Guide.
You should thoroughly exfoliate 24 hours prior to your appointment, with non-oil based products. (AVOID DOVE SOAP)
Any hair removal, waxing, shaving, or threading should be done 24 hours prior to your appointment.
Nail Treatments should be done before the tanning session. If nails are done right before your appointment, please remove any oils or lotions that have been applied.
No makeup, moisturizers or oils before appointment. They act as a barrier and will affect your tan development.
What should I wear during my tanning session?
You can wear whatever you’re comfortable with. The only requirement is underwear (i.e. thong, G-string, bathing suit, etc.). Lauren recommends wearing a strapless bra, bathing suit, or going topless to avoid tan lines. Disposable undergarments are available upon request.
What should I bring?
Aside from whatever you will wear during the tanning session, bring dark, loose fitting clothes to wear home. In inclement weather bring loose pants, a jacket, and boots. It is imperative that you do not get wet until it is time for your rinse. No leggings, jeans, or tight tank tops. It is very important to avoid any rubbing against your skin until the tan has developed and been rinsed.
How do I care for my tan?
After your tanning session, Lauren will give you the Post-Tan Care Instructions. She will also talk to you about what to do during your tanning session.
After waiting the appropriate developing time, rinse in lukewarm water. Only use soap where it is necessary. Do not wash your hair. No bar soaps or loofahs. Pat dry.
Developing time for the regular solution is 6-8 hours and the rapid solution is 2-4 hours.
Moisturizing is key! Moisturizing twice a day with a gentle lotion, preferably one without any alcohol will help your tan last and stay looking natural.
You may gently exfoliate to remove dead skin cells throughout your tan. This will help your tan to fade evenly. DO NOT exfoliate before your event, or you may strip the tan.
Always pat dry after the shower to avoid excess exfoliation.
Avoid chlorine and salt water.
Spray Tans do not contain SPF. Always be sure to use SPF.
Citrus, baking soda, and cleaning products will remove a tan - be careful when using them!
If you need to remove the tan - mix baking soda, lemon, and sugar for a natural scrub.
Hydrating from the inside out is also very important. Drink plenty of water.
Can I get my nails done after a tan?
If you get your nails done after your tan, do not allow the nail technician to use any exfoliating products or rub too much during the massages. If possible, opt for just a simple polish change.
How often can I come for a spray tan?
Usually every 10 days is a good schedule to follow. You always want to make sure that the old tan is completely exfoliated before coming for another one.
